Okay so been over a week since we (my husband, Donavan, and I) came back from Izumi Con ( izumicon.com/ ). I shall start at the beginning... a long and twisted tale I have to unwind XD lol not really. Anyways it was about a 3 hour drive, well supposed to be. Turns out the further south we went the more snow we came across. SO ended up taking about 4 hours to get to our destination. The roads were covered with snow in Oklahoma City, and we saw a ton of cars off on the side of the road. Some cars looked like they had just broke down, others clearly were in some kind of accident. Welp, our turn I guess! As we were merging onto a high way, about 30 mins away from the convention, my trusty Dodge Durango pulled hard to the left. I panicked of course and over corrected by pulling too hard right. I had no idea how many times our car spun, it was just a huge blur. There were cars in front of us, behind us, and to the right. It was like we were placed in some protective bubble, all the cars spread out so fast. Donavan was so calm, he just told me to let go of the wheel. Before I knew it we were facing backwards in the high way a few feet from the ditch on the left. Our car had stopped, and no one was hurt, and our car was fine! WTF!!!! Srsly after some heavy, screaming, panicking, hand flapping from me, I turned the car back around and we made it to the convention. I knew we were meant to be there, I was feeling really pumped from what I perceived as a near death experience. A new lease on life! I'm just dramatic.
At Izumi Con, we weren't sure where to park because of all the snow. Donavan ran inside real quick and we were informed to park on the side to unload and then we were directed to were the parking garage was. After set up, we walked over to this really nice place called Cafe' 7 for lunch. It was delicious, I highly recommend them, they have good food (pizza, sandwiches, salads) and very short walking distance from the convention, good pricing, and excellent customer service. After a fabulous lunch Donavan and I hurried back to the convention. There was already people wandering the convention all done up in cosplay. We got a few sales in before the event even officially opened! All of the staff I met were so nice, and helpful. Shout out to their head of Artists Alley, ASHLEY! She did so well getting everyone in and making sure we had everything we needed. Plus she brought goodies... All three days were fairly consistent. Great staff, and everyone in general I met in Oklahoma City were so kind, it was like being in Pleasantville XD
I met so many amazing artists while I was there...
